Harris County surpassed the one-million mark for in-person early voters in the 2026 election cycle.

Unofficial county data shows that more than one million people cast ballots in person by the end of the recent reporting period. An additional 45,000 mail ballots had been received. Friday served as the peak day for this voting surge, recording over 126,000 in-person votes.

Political campaigns utilized the final days before the November 3 deadline to visit key locations across the state. Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton campaigned in Houston, directing his message toward the rising cost of living. He cited increases in gas, groceries, and electricity bills as primary concerns for voters. Paxton stated, “Everything costs more, gas, groceries, electricity, everything’s up except our paychecks.”

Governor Greg Abbott traveled to Amarillo and Laredo to discuss border security and property taxes. He emphasized the differences between his administration and his opponents. Abbott told supporters, “Affordability is a major issue, yes. But, our values and what’s happening in our state.” He also encouraged his base to persuade other undecided voters to participate.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa and U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico held a joint event in Houston. Hinojosa targeted Abbott’s tenure, claiming that property taxes have increased 85% under his leadership. Talarico focused on campaign finance, proposing a ban on corporate and super political action committees. He declared, “I’m gonna vote to ban corporate PACs and super PACs so billionaires can’t buy our elections.”

Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth issued reminders to voters regarding identification requirements. She advised residents to bring an acceptable form of photo ID and review their sample ballots before visiting the polls. Polling locations will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Voters in Harris County may cast ballots at any designated vote center within the county.
