The Goo Goo Dolls will perform at halftime of the Buffalo Bills' Thanksgiving game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 26. The rock band was originally formed in Buffalo, marking a local connection for the event at the new Highmark Stadium.

The Bills announced the booking on Friday. The performance will take place on the Bills Legends Deck. The team said the setup allows fans to see the concert from throughout the stadium. The group is one of three musical acts scheduled for the holiday games.

Fans will receive PixMob light-up bracelets at their seats. These devices will create synchronized lighting effects across the venue. The Bills stated this feature will make the crowd an interactive part of the show. The lighting will coordinate with the music during the halftime break.

Frontman John Rzeznik has said he does not want to lecture concertgoers about politics. In a September interview on Everything Music, he discussed the role of live music in divided times. He noted that political and religious differences take a back seat when the band performs. He said fans from every political stripe share one common goal: seeing the show.

"I got people, fans, friends from every walk of life, every political stripe, everything," Rzeznik said. "And I always stress, we got one thing in common because we're living in weird times. We got one thing in common, and that's we're all here to see a show, and I'm not going to lecture people about anything."

The Bills' game is the third fixture on the Thanksgiving schedule. The Detroit Lions will host the Chicago Bears in the early afternoon. The Dallas Cowboys will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the late afternoon. Rapper Skilla Baby will perform for the Lions, while country artist Miranda Lambert will play for the Cowboys.

Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen will meet for the first time this season. The two have produced several close games in recent years. The matchup will take place under the lights at Highmark Stadium on Nov. 26.
