UConn hosts Michigan at TD Garden in Boston on Friday evening to rekindle a rivalry that ended in the national championship game earlier this year. The teams tip off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on November 6.

The betting market has moved on UConn since the line opened. The Huskies were initially favored by three points, but the spread has widened to six. Some analysts question whether that margin is too large given the talent on both rosters. The current consensus suggests Michigan is the value play at plus six.

Both coaches claim their backcourt is the best in the nation. Michigan fields Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney, and Roddy Gayle Jr. at the guard positions. UConn answers with Silas Demary Jr., Braylon Mullins, and Jayden Ross. The battle between Cadeau and Demary Jr. is a central focus, as both are contenders for the Bob Cousy Award. Cadeau is known for creative playmaking and speed, while Demary Jr. is viewed as an elite defender.

Frontcourt changes have altered the dynamics for both programs. UConn added Na'jai Hines from Seton Hall, and Michigan signed Moustapha Thiam from Cincinnati. Thiam is expected to play after missing the season opener against Oakland due to illness. Both teams lost a combined five NBA-caliber players, creating pressure for these new additions to contribute immediately.

Defensive schemes will be critical. Head coach Dan Hurley has noted that Hines can be foul-prone when defending aggressively. Michigan may look to exploit this tendency to force fouls and get the ball to Thiam. A disjointed defense from Michigan could struggle against UConn's complex offensive schemes.

Preseason results offer clues to current form. UConn's defense has contained Purdue effectively in recent matchups. Michigan's defensive unit has appeared less connected, raising questions about its ranking. UConn has a depth advantage with Colben Landrew, a potential first-round draft pick, available on the bench. Michigan lost five-star freshman Brandon McCoy Jr. to a knee injury during an international tour, limiting its options.

The game is available on TNT and streaming services including FUBO, CBSSports.com, and the CBS Sports App. The venue is the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Former head coach Dusty May and player Yaxel Lendeborg are no longer part of the Michigan program, but the team retains strong star power.
