The SportsLine Projection Model recommends betting on the under 140.5 total points for the men's college basketball matchup between McNeese and North Texas. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Thursday at The Super Pit in Denton, Texas. This non-conference contest features two unbeaten teams entering the week.
Both programs won their season openers on Monday. McNeese defeated UAB 99 to 78. North Texas beat Southwestern Christian 122 to 50 on its home floor. These victories set the stage for the Thursday meeting.
The Cowboys enter the game with a 28-6 record from last season and a 19-3 mark in Southland Conference play. McNeese has posted a 10-5 record on the road since the start of the previous campaign. The Mean Green finished 19-14 overall and 9-9 in the American Conference last year. North Texas has compiled a 13-5 home record dating back to November of last year.
Current odds list McNeese as a 2.5-point favorite. The SportsLine model, which simulates each game 10,000 times, has an 11-1 record on its top-rated over/under picks since 2025. The model has gone 28-22 on its top-rated side picks over that same stretch.
The model projects the under to hit in 56 percent of its simulations. The under has won in five of McNeese's last eight games. Neither team featured a high-scoring offense last season. McNeese ranked 85th nationally in scoring at 79.7 points per game. North Texas finished 288th in the country at 70.9 points per game.
Projections indicate four North Texas players will reach double figures, with Je'Shawn Stevenson expected to lead the Mean Green with more than 18 points. On the McNeese side, Larry Johnson is the only player projected to score 21 points or more. The model has also identified value against the spread, with one side of the number covering in well over 60 percent of simulations.
