The New York Knicks will host the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night at Madison Square Garden, pitting two Atlantic Division rivals against each other in a matchup defined by early season struggles. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with the defending champions entering the contest as 14.5-point favorites.

The Knicks sit fourth in the division with a 2-4 record, while the Nets trail in fifth place at 1-5. New York enters Monday coming off a 98-93 loss to Philadelphia on Friday night. Brooklyn snapped its losing streak on Sunday with a 98-90 victory over Indiana. The home team is 1-2 on its home court this season, matching the road record of the visiting Nets.

The total points line for the game is set at 218.5, a figure that dropped four points from the opening number. The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates NBA games 10,000 times, projects 221 combined points for the contest. The model indicates the Over hits 52% of the time in its simulations.

The Knicks rely on guard Jalen Brunson, who averages 25.5 points and 5.2 assists in 35.2 minutes per game. Center Karl-Anthony Towns contributes 21.8 points and 13.5 rebounds. For Brooklyn, forward Julius Randle leads the team with 21 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 33.2 minutes. Michael Porter Jr. adds 20.8 points and seven rebounds per game.

Knicks guard Jose Alvarado is listed as questionable due to an ankle injury. The model has a 26-10 record on top-rated spread picks in the NBA dating back to the previous season. It has generated nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on top-rated NBA picks since 2018, including five consecutive seasons of four-digit profit.

The model suggests one side of the spread hits nearly 60% of the time based on its possession-by-possession simulations. Both teams have trended toward the Under this season, but the current 218.5 total is the lowest either squad has faced. The game marks the second week of the 2026-27 NBA season.
