ITV is dropping its two flagship soaps from the evening schedule tonight to air football.
Viewers tuning in at 7.30 pm will see the Carabao Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea instead of the usual dramas. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street are returning tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, at their regular times. Emmerdale airs first at 8 pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8.30 pm.
The episodes will also be available on YouTube and ITVX from 7 am tomorrow. This brief hiatus follows a similar disruption this week when both shows aired episodes on Sunday, October 25, to compensate for earlier scheduling changes.
In the returning Coronation Street episode, Lucy Parkinson, played by Anya Dewin, reports Sally Metcalfe to social worker Ruth. Sally Metcalfe is portrayed by Sally Dynevor. Idris Nazir, played by Junade Khan, has a disagreement with Carla Connor-Swain, played by Alison King. Summer Spellman, played by Harriet Bibby, visits Marco in prison.
Emmerdale continues the story of Thea Ramsden's stabbing. Kim Tate, played by Claire King, worries about the consequences of her actions. Graham Foster, played by Andrew Scarborough, reacts to a revelation from Baby Tate's kidnapper. Fans have debated these scheduling swaps in the past, with some urging sports to move to dedicated channels while others accepted the changes as long as total weekly viewing hours remained consistent.
