President Donald Trump posted a video on Wednesday, apparently recorded in the Oval Office, to discuss the physical attributes of Senate candidate Jon Husted. In the clip, Trump stated that he told the public that Husted, a Republican from Ohio, has a great ass. He described the senator's rear as a very powerful ass while also admiring his shoulders, hands, and arms.
The president asserted that his announcement regarding Husted's physique caused the candidate to jump 12 points in the ratings. Husted is currently locked in a tight race against former Senator Sherrod Brown, a Democrat from Ohio. Recent polls show Brown holding a slight edge, and none of the data indicate the sudden, dramatic swing Trump suggested in the video.
Trump has recently focused on the specific body parts of men and commented on how handsome certain individuals are. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper highlighted this trend last week with a supercut video displaying several of the president's remarks. Trump has been particularly effusive about Husted since first bringing up the topic at a rally last week, where he described the senator's body as a pile of muscle.
The president's praise is not universal. He has also criticized Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General and a hand-picked Republican Senate candidate. Trump recalled telling Paxton that he was unsure if he liked the candidate's look, dress, or talk. Despite these comments on appearance and style, Trump has consistently praised Paxton for his loyalty.
