A single-vehicle accident on a rural Alabama road resulted in one fatality and two serious injuries on Saturday morning. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) responded to a crash on Greene County Road 20 near Saved Lane, located within the town limits of Boligee. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. when a 2009 Kia Spectra departed the roadway, struck a ditch, and collided with a tree.
The vehicle carried three juveniles from the area. A 15-year-old passenger from Boligee was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver, also from Boligee, sustained injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital for treatment. A 12-year-old passenger from Eutaw was also injured and transported to the same facility for care. ALEA confirmed that both surviving occupants were classified as seriously injured.
The crash occurred on a two-lane road that serves the residential areas of Boligee. The specific mechanics of how the car left the pavement are currently under investigation. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the vehicle's speed or the condition of the road at the time of the impact. The agency noted that the car hit the ditch before the final collision with the tree.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains open. ALEA officials are reviewing the scene to determine if factors such as mechanical failure, driver error, or road conditions contributed to the vehicle leaving the road. No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The two injured patients remain at the hospital for further evaluation.
