Milwaukee won four runs on Wednesday night to claim its first World Series championship in 58 seasons. The Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 at Tropicana Field, securing the title in a contest where the small-market club relied on disciplined hitting and strong pitching to overcome a three-game deficit.

Jacob Misiorowski led the staff with five and two-thirds scoreless innings. The 24-year-old starter threw 86 pitches, logging 58 strikes, and allowed only two hits before leaving the game with a right calf cramp. He opened the series with a 103.5 mph fastball that set a World Series velocity record. He finished the postseason with a 2-0 record and a 0.84 earned run average.

Cooper Pratt, 22, provided the offensive spark for the visiting team. The rookie, who debuted in June, set a Series record with six consecutive hits before a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. He recorded two hits and two runs batted in during the final game. San Marcos native David Hamilton contributed an RBI single in the fifth inning that scored Pratt, extending Milwaukee's lead.

The scoring sequence began in the second inning when Pratt hit an RBI single off Rays ace Drew Rasmussen. Hamilton’s single in the fifth made it 2-0, and World Series MVP William Contreras added an RBI double in the sixth. Pratt’s subsequent sacrifice fly brought the Brewers’ total to four runs. Tampa Bay scored once in the ninth on an RBI double by Chandler Simpson, but Trevor Megill ended the game by grounding out Richie Palacios.

The championship concludes a 58-year franchise history that began in Seattle before the team moved to Milwaukee in 1970. The only previous World Series appearance in 1982 ended in a Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals despite a 3-1 series lead. Manager Pat Murphy, who won National League Manager of the Year honors in 2024 and 2025, credited the team’s defensive focus and camaraderie for the turnaround from a 4-3 loss in 12 innings in Game 4.

The Brewers finished the regular season with 103 wins and went 11-2 in the postseason. They recorded seven comeback victories and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. The teams combined for only four home runs across the five-game series, with three coming from Milwaukee players. This marks the first World Series since 1991 between two clubs from the bottom half of major league payrolls.

The victory arrives as owners push for a salary cap, a measure they argue is necessary for small-market sustainability. A management lockout is expected to begin on December 2, which could affect the 2027 season. The Rays remain 0-3 in World Series appearances and became the fifth team to lose Game 5 after falling behind by three games.
