Tiki Kai will mark its one-year anniversary on Nov. 5 with a luau featuring a whole pig carving and fire dance performers at its Hermosa Beach location.
The bar, situated at 73 Pier Ave., opened in late 2025. It operates as a classic tiki establishment that incorporates modern design elements. The venue includes a 30-foot bar, black lava rock walls, and thatched-roof booths. More than 100 lanterns hang from the ceiling above an LED-lit lava-flow path running along the bar floor.
Dinner seating is limited to 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Patrons must secure a reservation through the restaurant’s website to attend. The anniversary dinner menu includes a pork belly dish served with whipped Okinawan potatoes, caramelized Maui onions, and pickled vegetables. Three sauces accompany the meat: tangy soy vinegar, honey garlic, and a creamy liver sauce.
Regular menu items will also be available. These include Sticky Ribs, Hamachi Crudo, and the Pule Hu Steak. The Pule Hu Steak is a rib-eye seasoned with Hawaiian herbs and Kona coffee. Seafood options consist of octopus, Miso Black Cod, Macadamia Mahi Mahi, and Tiger Shrimp Scampi.
The drink list features traditional tiki cocktails alongside original creations. Standard offerings include the mai tai. The Navy Grog blends rum, honey, grapefruit, and lime. The Blue Hawaiian combines vodka and rum with the O.G. '44 Mai Tai. That specific drink uses a secret rum blend, curacao, orgeat, and lime.
A portion of the proceeds from the Nov. 5 event will benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The venue maintains its regular operations outside of the anniversary celebration. The tiki bar serves a Polynesian-inspired food menu alongside its cocktail list.
Tiki Kai remains open for business at 73 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach. Customers may book seats for the anniversary dinner at tikikai.com.
